Cameron Stein of Ashland, a senior, won the Phillips-Klimek Distance Twilight on Saturday in Phoenix, Ore., running a US#1 time of 8:18.89. Stein, who won the Rose City XC Championships to conclude the early spring cross country season, retraces key moments of the last year and a half, beginning with the 2019 NXR Northwest race in Idaho, where he made the quick decision to stop and help a fallen teammate. Stein also revisits Sept. 8, 2020, when a firestorm swept through the Interstate-5 corridor between Ashland and Medford. Like his older teammate E.J. Holland, Stein will attend the University of Oregon.
